Recovery
As immediate needs are being met through our relief efforts, deeper issues of long-term recovery can be addressed. The staff of the Kansas City Rescue Mission has never been satisfied to provide only relief services. We want to see the cycles of poverty and addiction broken once and for all. And we facilitate that change by inviting men to join our C-COR, the Christian Community of Recovery at KCRM.
The C-COR is a growth-focused residential program that helps residents break personal strongholds of defeat through classes on recovery, one-on-one coaching, Bible study, life skills training, job skills training, community service and accountability. Participants begin to mature and become stable and prepare to re-enter society as productive citizens, extending the Christian Community of Recovery outside the walls of KCRM.
The philosophy of recovery and restoration at the Kansas City Rescue Mission relies not on the strength of a program, but on the building of mature and healthy relationships between community members and their peers, their growth coaches and Mission staff, a local church body, their family, society ... and most importantly, God.
Whereas programs end, leaving the client to face a future essentially alone, the Christian Community of Recovery does not end. Its purpose is to continually welcome community members into deeper and stronger relationships, better equipped to re-enter the community at large, with a network of friends and a vibrant hope for a stable and sober future.
