Our Goal: $12,700Winter weather can be brutal in Kansas City—especially for those who don’t have a home or adequate clothing to protect from the cold.
November through March, KCRM will provide an estimated 11,885 beds for homeless men. Here, each man finds a hot nourishing meal, a refreshing shower, clean clothes and warm shelter for the night.
Keeping our guests cozy will cost approximately $20,900 this year, counting a projected $3,000 increase in Missouri Gas Energy services.
Imagine! Without gas, KCRM could not provide:
- Food for our tables
- Hot showers
- Heat for our shelter
Every winter relief service we supply to our homeless guests depends on our ability to pay our gas bill!
The G2:10 Challenge:
KCRM invites 10 churches to donate $1,270 over and above their regular annual giving to reach our goal of $12,700—the cost of providing gas through the coldest months of the year!Is this challenge for you?

Our Goal: $15,750Each year, the Kansas City Rescue Mission serves more than 100,000 plates of wholesome food to hungry and homeless Kansas Citians through our free meals program.
More than 50 percent of the food we use is donated, and our skilled kitchen staff carefully develops menus using those donations to provide delicious and substantial meals for our often malnourished guests.
KCRM makes every effort to provide an excellent meal for every wanderer who comes through our door. That’s because the immediate relief a nutritious meal gives can be the first step toward recovery.
The Mission has projected a food budget of almost $45,000 for fiscal year 2009/2010. We’ll stretch these funds to pay for food bank fees, to purchase proteins, other foods and kitchen supplies.
The G2:10 Challenge:
KCRM invites 10 churches to donate $1,500 over and above their regular annual giving to reach our goal of $15,000—one-third of KCRM’s food budget. Is this challenge for you?
Keep Our Light Burning

Our Goal: $14,750The journey to the Kansas City Rescue Mission’s door can be a long one. Some men hitchhike to Kansas City looking for work or a new start. Others wander the streets for decades as they struggle with addiction, and the loss of family, health and dignity.
When someone points the way to KCRM, he or she is also pointing the way to relief, recovery and the restoration of health, family … dignity. That’s why it’s imperative that KCRM keeps the lights on for the weary, lost wanderer searching for a hot meal, warm bed and message of hope.
Without electricity, the lights go dark and our freezers stop working. We cannot provide air conditioning for men suffering from the heat, asthma and other conditions, or the equipment that projects inspirational films, lyrics and teaching tools during chapel and classes.
To provide these and other necessities requiring electricity, the Mission budgets almost $30,000 each year.
The G2:10 Challenge:
KCRM invites 10 churches to donate $1,475 over and above their regular annual giving to reach our goal of $14,750—one-half of KCRM’s electric bill for an entire year.Is this challenge for you?

Our Goal: $17,550In 2008, KCRM’s staff nurse, assisted by volunteer doctors and nurses, held 4,579 sessions with 677 unduplicated clients who needed health assessments, prescription assistance, and care for wound, respiratory and heart ailments, diabetes and more.
The Mission also maintains up to 10 “medical beds” for men who need a place to heal or recuperate and have no home or family to help.
In 2008, KCRM’s case managers visited with 931 unduplicated clients during 4,790 sessions, providing help with transportation, housing, legal issues, documentation, mental health and more. The Mission provides an average 11 hours of case management daily to meet the ever-increasing needs of the homeless population we serve.
Funding from our donors, churches, businesses and private foundations helps provide the salaries for our nurse and case managers, along with supplies, fees, OTC medicines, prescription costs and other needs.
